My name is Anna Higginbottom, I'm in my forties and live near Sheffield in the UK. I'm married to Mark and we've never had
children. I work in the craft industry for Craft Channel Productions Ltd. as a Sample maker and template designer, the majority of my work is for the Tattered Lace Magazine and various other magazines, such as the Tattered Lace Diecutting Compendium, Crafts Beautiful and Diecutting Essentials. I also do samples for the Tattered Lace shows on Create and Craft, Create and Craft USA and Ideal World.
I have a real love for learning new
things and paper craft is the one thing that I am passionate about and I
feel confident enough to be able to share my love of crafting with
others. I have always crafted, I have the first card I ever made in nursery tucked away in the loft.
I
left school with no qualifications to speak of and soon decided I
didn't want to work in a factory for the rest of my life, so I went back
to college to study art and design, but I didn't take my education any
further. I started to make cards for all my family, that was over 20
years ago and I'm still at it, in between I've been back to college and
did a couple of years at uni studying archaeological science, I was
unable to complete my degree but I loved every minute and I got to tick
off one of my ambitions which was to dig at Stone Henge, which was a once in a
life time experience.
I also love hiking, and fossil hunting. We love visiting the Peak District and walking ion the moors and also climbing the mountains and fells of the Lake District, check out my You Tube channel for videos of our days out. I'm
definitely a bit quirky, as anyone who knows me will tell you.
My
Step Mum has often said to me
that I should apply for the various design team calls that pop up now
and then on Facebook, so when the Tattered Lace team put a post up on
Facebook, I replied back and was floored when I was asked to make some
samples. I was worried that my style was too grungy and shabby for the
Tattered Lace team but they soon put me at ease. I couldn't believe my luck when I was offered a full time position, talk about dream job!
I love the challenge of coming up
with something a bit different and I'm usually to be found messing
around in my vector graphics program or one of the other art programs on
my computer. Or making a inky, painty mess in my craft studio.
