Paper Beads, Alcohol Ink and Nail Polish

I have had such an exciting few months that I haven't had much change to blog, I have been welcomed in to the Tattered Lace Design team and I'm loving it.  I was also asked to submit a piece for the new CD kit, My Craft Studio Papercraft Collection A Gift From.  The CD comes with a booklet and lots of fun projects for jewellery making, gifts and paper folding, it's the first time my name has been in print and I'm thrilled.  I have caught the bead making bug and have been turning scraps of paper in to lovely beads.  This necklace is made with paper beads, pearls, sliver beads and a leaf cut from Clearly for Art modelling film with one of the beautiful leaves from the Lavish Blooms collection.

You can win a set of Lavish Bloom dies by following my blog and the new Tattered Lace Challenge Blog, I have a set to give away as blog candy.  See the previous post for details :)

Silver Leaf Neckace

The cylinder beads were made from scraps of scrapbook paper and painted with a thin layer of a pearl peach nail polish, then I added a layer of crackle Barry M white crackle effect nail paint which worked perfectly, I then gave them a thin coat of Xtras Glacier Gray nail polish which is a fine silvery gold glittery polish.  The leaf was cut from Clearly For Art black modelling film which I heated with my heat tool and shaped then coated on lots of layers of silver and sherbet pink alcohol inks, the last layer of silver ink I dropped in some of the Xtras nail polish and let it run in to the silver, it was a bit of an experiment and took all night to dry.  I I was to do it again I think I would try resin or a silver nail polish rather than the alcohol inks.  I really love how it came out and will be taking it on my hols :)

Supplies
Scrap paper
pearl beads
Silver beads
Silver jump rings
Cord
Clearly for Art Modelling Film
Nail polish in various shades and textures

Beautiful Tattered lace Venetian Collection

Hi, here are the samples I made for this weeks Tattered Lace new releases, the Venetian Collection plus the gorgeous rose from the new Tattered lace mag.

Really beautiful dies again, loving the church, roses and basket especially.  I really felt like getting messy this week so out came my sprays and inks :)  My Silhouette is now speckled red lol!  Hopefully it wipes off!

Church Scene
With this first card I really wanted to use the fern frame as a stencil to make a cloudy sky, the shape really calls out to be used like this so I traced it as I wanted it larger than it would have cut out and then cut the shape by hand, I then used the actual die as a stencil and softly inked the card with an ink duster and blue jeans distress ink to add some cloud shapes.  The church was coloured with Promarkers and embossed with clear embossing powder and backed with some more card coloured with a lighter grey to make it more solid.  I just finished the scene using straight swag and the inner parts of the fern in the Venetian floral.

Victorian Roses
I really loved the shape of the swags and when I started playing with the shapes I really felt I wanted to do something Victorian in style, I've used shades of soft dusky rose for this card and although it took a while to get it how I liked it, I was very happy with the end result.  The swags are embossed with gold embossing powder and the rose and ivy were coloured with Promarkers and then embossed with holographic embossing powder to give them some sparkle.  The  3d rose and small blossoms were coloured with the same Promarkers and the background was coloured with an ivory Promarker to add some texture and then inked with distress inks.  The gold mat was just a piece of card edged with a versamark pad and then covered with melt dust embossing powder in gold sparkle.  The ribbon was also coloured with a Promarker to tie it all together.  The shaped panel was made in Silhouette Studio and then cut on the Cameo.

Masked Ombre
So I was saying I felt like getting messy, well I certainly managed to make a mess with this card lol!  I used the Venetian Florals to mask areas of the card and sprayed red, orange and  yellow inks on to the card at an angle to get an ombre look.  I then used the pieces I had used for masking to fill up the rest of the card.  The flowery border was made with the Bloomsbury panel which I extended by placing the edge of the die over hanging the edge of the cutting plates so it wouldn't cut right to the edge, I repeated this again so I had one long border.

Spring Basket
Finally a double easel card, I used the silhouette to make the card base, I filled the pretty basket die with lots of flowers from various sets.  The basket was a laser cut as the dies hadn't arrived so I was sent a few laser cuts, I coloured it with Promarkers and as I had some left over leaves in white on my desk I coloured them with a Promarker rather than cutting another piece of card stock.

Quicky Update

Hi, well it's a lovely sunny day here today, shame I'm off to work in a bit :)

Just a quick update with a few odds and ends I've been doing, I know I've failed miserably to keep my blog updated, I tend to put all my photographs of my work on Facebook and forget to post on my blog.  As I'm now part of the Tattered lace design team and we have started doing blog challenges, hopefully it will make me keep more up to date.

Again I apologise for the rubbish photographs, I'm hoping to get some proper studio lights this month.

Pearl Wedding Anniversary
Firstly a commission for a Pearl wedding anniversary party.  The lady wanted purple silver and white for here theme and had given me a lovely verse which she had written to thank all her family and friends for being part of their lives.  I thought that was such a beautiful idea.  I put the verse on to scrolls which she wanted for each guest, as well as invites, gift tags and place cards.  I used Decadry printable pearl paper which I have to say is the best printable pearl paper I've ever used. I cut the tags and place cards on the Cameo.

Easter Fun
Finally something a little bit different, we do a lot of charity work at our little shop and this year all our proceeds are going to local charities.  This month we are raising money for a local pre-school and this was my contribution.  It's a piƱata chocolate cake with loads of cadbury mini eggs inside, we had a guess how many mini eggs are hidden in the cake competition and the winner got the cake as a prize.  I had a lot of fun making this and apparently the cake was very good, the customer who won it said his kids had eaten most of it already lol!

Tattered Lace Lavish Blooms Challenge

Hi, today is my first Tattered Lace design team blog challenge.  I'm hoping it will be the first of many.

The last few months have been hectic, but also very exciting, I love coming up with new ideas for the Tattered Lace samples, especially the flower dies as they are so versatile.

If you fancy winning a £50 to spend at www.crafting.co.uk head on over to the Tattered Lace Challenge Blog here.

The challenge for April is based on the beautiful Lavish Blooms dies. To enter the challenge you can either link your blog post or email your project to Challenge@Tatteredlace.co.uk . Closing date for email entries for the Lavish Blooms Challenge is midnight on 28th April 2014.

So onto today's card using the Lavish Bloom lily set, I was feeling pretty chilly and fed up with the miserable weather so I wanted to make something that reminded me of summer, you can't get anything more summery than gorgeous tiger lilies.  Hopefully I will be making a tutorial video sometime next week on how to make the lilies.
